For parents choosing at age three or four, the real decision may be whether to choose the next two years or the next fourteen. Of 228 Dubai schools with a usable published grade span, 130 run from KG1/FS1 or earlier through Grade 12/Year 13. Continuity is common, but it usually comes with a much larger school community.

Full-journey schools make up 57.0% of the matched sample. Primary specialists are much less common, and secondary-only schools are rarer still. That matters for siblings: a wider grade span increases the chance that children several years apart can attend the same institution.

Continuity generally means a larger institution

The median full-journey school has 1,904 pupils, compared with 556 at primary specialists. A single school can still organise itself into smaller phases, houses or campuses, but the total community parents are joining is different.

Do not read the Good-or-better column as proof that a wide grade span causes quality. Curriculum and school type are distributed unevenly across these groups, and the smallest categories contain very few schools. Use the table to frame a decision, not to rank models.

The questions continuity does not answer

Is admission automatic at each transition? Ask whether moving from primary to secondary or into sixth form requires grades, a fresh application or subject-specific entry.
Does the school stay on one campus? A single brand can operate phases in separate buildings or sites.
Does the curriculum remain consistent? Check qualification choices and pathways at secondary and post-16, not just the label used in primary.
What does the fee become later? Full-journey convenience should be tested against the school’s complete grade-by-grade fee ladder.

Published grade ranges, current enrolment, average fees and KHDA ratings come from DubaiSchools.ai’s open dataset. A full-journey school starts at KG1/FS1 or earlier and ends at Grade 12/Year 13 or later in the normalised grade field. The five groups are assigned in the order shown so they do not overlap.
