KHDA Inspections Resume 31 August 2026 — Track What Changes
After a two-year pause, DSIB inspectors return for the 2026-27 academic year under a new two-tier model. This page tracks all 240 private schools in our index and updates from our data pipeline as reports are published.
KHDA’s Dubai School Inspection Bureau paused full inspections for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 academic years, so the last full-cohort ratings date from the 2023-24 cycle (WhichSchoolAdvisor, 22 June 2024 and 16 May 2025). Inspections resume from 31 August 2026 under a two-tier model, with a maximum of 24 hours’ notice for either type of visit and the five-band rating scale (Outstanding / Very Good / Good / Acceptable / Weak) unchanged (The National, 6 June 2026; Gulf Business).
In our dataset, 206 of 240 schools carry a rating last confirmed in the 2023-24 cycle — now two to three years old. During the pause only schools completing their third year of operation were rated: 9 schools in our index were inspected between April 2025 and February 2026 (the first four of those ratings were published in November 2025). 23 schools have never been rated at all.
Full Inspection or Monitoring Visit: the two tiers
Full Inspection
The complete UAE School Inspection Framework, ending in a published DSIB report with an overall rating. This is the only visit type that can change a school’s published rating. Schools completing their third year of operation automatically receive one.
Monitoring Visit
A smaller inspection team producing a focused strengths-and-recommendations report. It does not change the school’s published rating — the existing rating stands until the next full inspection.
KHDA selects the tier for each school through data analysis; there is no published schedule of who gets which (Gulf Business). The tables below are therefore computed from our own dataset, not from a KHDA list.
Schools awaiting a first rating (23)
These schools are listed by KHDA as Not Yet Inspected. Their first published rating — whenever their full inspection lands — will be the first independent quality signal parents get.
Likely automatic full inspections: third-year schools (14)
KHDA says schools completing their third year of operation automatically receive a full inspection. The list below is our reading of KHDA’s third-year rule, not a KHDA list: it is every school in our index established in 2023 or 2024, computed from the founding year in our dataset. Note that 5 of the 14 (all established 2023) already received a first rating during the pause under the same third-year rule — the rule most directly points at the 9 schools established in 2024 that are still unrated.

What happens when reports land
This tracker, the rankings and every rating-driven landing page regenerate automatically from our data pipeline as KHDA publishes 2026-27 reports — no waiting for a manual rewrite. Each school’s own page shows its full inspection history (back to 2008 for the oldest schools), so a new rating appears in context, not in isolation.
Watch your shortlist

When do KHDA inspections resume?
From 31 August 2026, the start of the 2026-27 academic year. KHDA/DSIB paused full inspections for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 academic years, so the last full-cohort ratings date from the 2023-24 cycle. Schools receive a maximum of 24 hours’ notice before a visit. Sources: The National, 6 June 2026; Gulf Business.
Will my school get a full inspection or a monitoring visit?
KHDA selects the tier for each school through data analysis — there is no published schedule. A Full Inspection uses the complete UAE School Inspection Framework and ends in a published DSIB report with an overall rating. A Monitoring Visit uses a smaller team and produces a focused strengths-and-recommendations report that does not change the school’s published rating. Schools completing their third year of operation automatically receive a full inspection.
Do KHDA ratings affect school fees?
Not in 2026-27: KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that no private school may increase fees for the 2026-27 academic year (Dubai Media Office). From 2027-28, rating-linked fee-increase multiples apply again, so the ratings published in 2026-27 will directly influence how much schools can raise fees.
Has the rating scale changed?
No. The scale remains Outstanding, Very Good, Good, Acceptable, Weak — the same five bands used since inspections began. Ratings from the 2023-24 cycle stand until a school receives a new full inspection.
