Does a school's age matter?

It's not the most important factor — KHDA rating and inclusion rating matter more for day-to-day quality. But longevity correlates with stability: heritage schools have weathered headship changes, recessions, and curriculum reforms. They also tend to have proper alumni networks, which can matter for university references and post-graduate connections.

Why pre-1990?

It's a clean cutoff. Schools founded before 1990 pre-date the establishment of Dubai's modern private-education sector and most of the city's expansion. They've operated through every major shift in Dubai's history.

Are heritage schools more expensive?

Mixed. Some are amongst Dubai's most affordable (older Indian-curriculum schools especially), and a few — like American School Dubai — are at the top of the fee scale. The list spans the full price range.
